History Project Update

In October the LHA board approved a budget to allow converting the trophy case at Ames into a historical display. After re-dressing the case with interchangeable background panels and lower level topic descriptions, we added several items to the display; framed historical jerseys, pennants,  player cards,  game used sticks and pucks etc. We currently ordered new glass shelving for the interior of the display which will allow for more frequent and creative displays.  We are also planning on adding a spot for “Pipeline Recent Successes” which will feature current trophies and pictures of teams who have performed well in tournaments. This is all a work in progress. From the origins of the program to the current season we will be adding items and descriptions to the display case as often as possible or necessary.  Your feedback and contributions are welcome, so if you have a hidden gem that would help visualize our past, please contact Marcus Anderson historian@lakevillehockey.org

New Process for Trophy Submission

You may noticed that many of the old trophies have been removed from the display case at Ames. The old trophies have all been archived photographed and logged in a database.  Those with contact information included (stickers or notes on the bottom)  have been returned to their rightful owners. Broken, outdated  or damaged trophies were tossed, recycled or taken apart for future use in the display.

For historical purposes (archiving and logging) we are recommending that any new “Recent Success” trophies to be included in the display should be submitted through a conditional process.  Trophies will be accepted and displayed as long as they include:

  •  a contact for return
  •  a team photo with all players and coaches identified

The process for photos submitted to Facebook will not change. .

Wall of Fame Photo Display

There are plans to expand The Wall of Fame with more pictures of our current boom in D1 or higher level hockey alums.  We have several ideas on how to improve the display and include our history in other presentations at Ames and Hasse Arenas.

Alums and History Online

Did you know that there are 43 LHA alums who have committed to or are playing D1 level hockey or higher? The History and Alums Section http://www.lakevillehockey.org.prod.ngin.com/page/show/785111-history on the LHA website continues to be updated with news, pictures and lists. We are grateful for any alum news that is submitted, so if you have story or ideas please send it on

Sponsors Needed

We recently contacted a potential vendor who can  help us with printing and binding a Lakeville Hockey publication.  Eventually, we would also like to add top line display cabinets at both rinks.  If you know sponsors who would like to fund this initiatives contact the LHA Historian and Sponsorship Director

Gaps in Research, Missing Info Still Needed

With  40 plus years of research to be conducted, there are some parts of our hockey history that are yet to be found.  Please check the history project “Want list” http://www.lakevillehockey.org.prod.ngin.com/page/show/1417894-want-list to see if there is a way you could help. You might be neighbors with an LHA alum who played during an era that is missing?  Maybe you have old yearbooks, programs, scrapbooks ,newspaper articles, photos or first hand knowledge that would be very helpful to completing the research. If you do please contact the LHA Historian.
