LHA SafeSport Coordinator:

Introduction to SafeSport Policies:

LHA is committed to creating a safe and positive environment for its participant’s physical, emotional, and social development and to ensure that it promotes an environment free from abuse and misconduct.  As part of this commitment LHA will be following the recommendations and guidelines defined in the USA Hockey SafeSport Program Handbook.   Any questions or concerns should be directed to LHA’s Safesport coordinator.

LHA SafeSport Policies are designed to address the following types of abuse and misconduct:

·
Sexual Abuse
·
Physical Abuse
·
Emotional Abuse
·
Bullying, Threats and Harassment
·         Hazing

Refer to the USA Hockey SafeSport Program Handbook for complete definitions of these abuses and misconducts.

In the event that any LHA member observes any of the above described abuses and or misconducts it is the member’s responsibility to immediately report their observations to the LHA SafeSport Coordinator.  In addition the member must also consider reporting suspected child physical or sexual abuse to appropriate law enforcement authorities.

USA Hockey's SafeSport program provides resources to ensure the safety of all involved in the game both on and off the ice.  USA Hockey & LHA has Zero Tolerance for abuse and misconduct.

The U.S. Center for SafeSport Youth Athlete Training courses are now live! These resources include courses for children of pre-school age; grades K-2; grades 3-5; middle school and high school. These free online trainings are designed as an introduction for minor athletes and their parents or other caregivers to understand the importance of positive, welcoming environments in sports, where misconduct like bullying or abuse is less likely to happen, and to know where to report abuse, should it occur.
