Player Development

Hockey Development Mission Statement:

The Lakeville Hockey Association wishes to instill in each child a love for the game of ice hockey, the ideal of fair play and sportsmanship, and the development of personal and social skills.

LHA intends to exemplify the principles of USA Hockey and through excellence in coaching develop the finest youth hockey players possible. Further, Lakeville Hockey Association will provide a fun environment, a rigorous commitment to hockey skill development for players of all ages, levels of commitment, with equal opportunity for all.

It is our vision to promote, encourage and develop each player, coach and volunteer within our Association, while teaching the concepts of teamwork, fair play and respect.

Hockey Education Program (HEP)

Lakeville Hockey Association has adopted the Hockey Education Program as a general principle to make hockey more fun for kids.  The three components of HEP are:
  • skill development (Skills Challenge program)
  • education (Mastery Approach to Coaching – MAC and Mastery Approach to Parents For Sports – MAPS) 
  • and accountability (Fair Play). 
The components have been developed collaboratively by leaders in hockey, sports 
psychology and child development and is based on validated research over a 25 year 
period. 
 
HEP’s mission is to create an environment for all involved in hockey programs
