Candidate Name: Alison Fogarty
Desired Position: VP Admin/District 8 Rep
Number of Children in LHA: 2
I have been on the LHA Board for 3 seasons now. I have held the position of Communications Director since the Fall of 2017. I also took over the Registrar position for the 2019-2020. I have also been a part of the Hockey Day Lakeville Committee for the past two years. I have two kids that play hockey in LHA - a 2nd year PeeWee and a 1st year U10.
Since joining the LHA Board, I feel like I have made many positive contributions. I have expanded our social media presence, implementing a social media management tool that allows us to streamline our processes. Additionally, I assisted in implementing the new Registration portal last year, allowing for online, scheduled payments of registration administered directly through SportsEngine. Another accomplishment that I am proud of is the implementation of a streamlined apparel program allowing all levels of LHA players to have a uniform apparel package at a competitive price, which can be utilized for a minimum of two seasons. Lastly, I served on the Hockey Day Lakeville Committee for the past two seasons, working to design and execute the event successfully.
If elected to the VP of Admin role, I look to continue to implement positive change for all of our LHA families. I would like to continue to streamline processes and find new ways to promote consistency amongst the teams. I would like to continue to find ways to improve our Communications with our member families and deliver timely and relevant content. While hockey is an expensive sport, I would like to work with the rest of the Board to find additional opportunities to make hockey more affordable for our families.
Candidate Name: Michael Bakken
Desired Position: U8/U10 Director
Number of Children in LHA: 1
I have lived in Lakeville for twenty one years. I have been involved with LHA for eleven years. During that time I have coached 5 teams for the girls program and 10 teams on the boys side. I was also involved in coaching four teams for Minnesota Made’s Choice League. My youngest daughter Victoria is a first year U10. My youngest son has moved on from LHA and is playing JV for Lakeville South HS.
As a member of the coaching staff for 15 LHA teams I have worked to see that each player improves and continues to play this wonderful game.
I would like to continue the wonderful work that my predecessors have started. The girls program has grown under their tenure and I would like to see the trend continue. I will work to ensure skill development at all U8 and U10 levels so that we can produce competitive teams that promote a love of hockey. My goal would be that we not only add to the number of girls playing hockey but work to ensure they continue to play, love the sport and develop character.
Candidate Name: Seth Baker
Desired Position: President
Number of Children in LHA: 3
I have been part of Lakeville hockey for 8 years and have volunteered on the board for the last 4 years. I have also volunteered to coach each season that we have been part of LHA. I currently coach beginner U8 and the Lakeville Special Hockey Team. I currently have 3 children in LHA. Brody will be a first-year Bantam, Dylan will be a second-year Squirt and my daughter Kenley will be in her second year of U8 hockey.
As a member of the HDC committee, I assist in the tryout process each season. I have also worked to create programs like Roaming Coaches to ensure that all kids get the best hockey experience and development opportunities.
I will expand transparency and communication with our members. I will also work to enhance our operating budget so that we can simplify and reduce the cost of hockey where possible. I will also work with our ice director and the city of Lakeville to reduce travel and ice time outside of Lakeville. Lastly, I will continue to work to ensure that every child has a great youth hockey experience.
Candidate Name: Brian Peterson
Desired Position: VP Operations
Number of Children in LHA: 2
8 Years involved in LHA. The 1st 3 years as a coach or assistant and the last 5 years as a member of the board. In those 5 years I have been the tournament director for all 5 years, as well as the VP of Operations for the last 2 years. In addition, was part of the planning committee the inaugural year of HDL.
Directed multiple successful tournaments including a number of district playoffs, regional playoffs, and a state tournament. In addition, I lead the tryout process into the 21st century by making evaluations completely secure, ensuring that the process remains as above board and transparent as possible. I did this by utilizing a platform for score entry and evaluation. I also assisted in bringing the 1st ever HDL to fruition.
My goals for the board would be to continue to tweak the tryout process. It is not perfect and although I am not sure perfect is possible, we can improve. I also want to continue to work on using our resources wisely and looking at all avenues of expense to ensure we are being as fiscally responsible as possible, while also making sure we are continuously working to develop young athletes as well as young men and woman.
